Our Coaches
Our “Coaches in Training” or C.I.T.’s are Teens (13 to 16 years) and 16+. Many of our C.I.T.’s are former Pulsars competitive athletes. However, having had previous competitive experience isn’t a requirement to become a CIT. We provide professional development training, along with close supervision by a fully certified coach. This enables a CIT to develop the confidence required to become a Coach, when the time is right. All CIT’s must have First Aid training.
Our Recreational Coaches are trained through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). All staff are First-Aid certified; have provided current Vulnerable Sector Screening; have completed Risk Management; and Respect in Sport certification. They receive on-going Professional development training, workshops and support to ensure the Recreational athletes are improving their personal physical strength, flexibility, co-ordination and balance. Coaches build the athletes confidence and independence, as well as many other social and teamwork skills. It is a huge responsibility and our coaches are continually updating their skills.
Our Competitive Coaches are minimum NCCP 2 certified in artistic and trampoline. All staff are First-Aid certified; have provided current Vulnerable Sector Screening; have completed Risk Management; and Respect in Sport certification. They participate in on-going Professional development training, workshops and support.
Our consistent Administration Support with over 6 years experience managing one of Ontario’s largest gymnastics facilities, believes that our philosophy changes as we meet new challenges and decisions are continually being made with the entire club in mind. Pulsars Gymnastics is a not-for-profit club, where children from walking to adults are welcome to participate. Here are some ways you can participate at Pulsars; our environment allows the Coaches to achieve their overall potential, which means the athletes are able to develop to their potential. We provide a schedule for the Recreational athlete, but we offer so much more. Whether it’s a large group for a one time outing, a private school or day care for physical education curriculum, York Region Public and Catholic schools’ electives, Boot Camp, Zumba, Martial Arts, Women’s Artistic competitions, Men’s Artistic Competitions, NCCP certifications, First Aid Courses, Birthday Parties, Seasonal Day Camps, Adult Open Gym, etc. Pulsars Gymnastics does accommodate the community’s needs and events.
Since relocating to our new facility in 2004, Pulsars has received many awards; from Gymnastics Canada for Club of Excellence in 2005, 2006 and 2007 for our commitment to Women’s Artistic Gymnastics, at a National Level. This annual award is given to approximately 10 clubs per year, from across Canada. Our primary role as a gymnastics club is to serve our membership. We are honoured to be recognized by Gymnastics Canada.
Pulsars has been the honoured recipient to the Platinum award by Gymnastics Ontario in recognition to our commitment to hosting events for the gymnastics, trampoline and tumbling communities in Ontario. As well as National and Provincial Training camps for Men’s and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics. Participating and Organizing events for “I love Gymnastics Week” a National campaign initiated by Gymnastics Canada. Men’s Artistic Qualifiers and Women’s Artistic Invitationals.
